MPHS offers 35 electives for students to choose from. These electives range from accounting to construction trade to culinary arts. There are many electives available for students to choose from.
Business courses:
MPHS offers a whole range of business electives to help prepare students for a business career. The business electives offered are business leadership, future focus, current issues & trends in business, integrating technology, and business management & administration.
Construction trades:
MPHS offers two electives related to construction, construction trades and woodworking. These course electives are offered to MPHS and area students.
Family and consumer sciences:
MPHS offers family and consumer sciences classes like, family relationships, dads make a difference, senior survival, and child development. Child development and family relationships are offered to any grade, senior survival is only offered for seniors, and dads make a difference is designed specifically for male students.
Health Careers:
Health Career electives include CNA, medical terminology, health science, and pharmacy technician/phlebotomy. These four electives will help students get ready for careers in the health industry. Medical terminology is only offered to 10th,11th, and 12th graders. CNA is only offered to 11th and 12th graders.
Singular electives:
Accounting is offered to all grades but you have to take intro to accounting first. Automotive technology is offered to all grades but you have to take intro to automotive technology first. Agriscience is only offered to 11th and 12th graders and is on the alma college campus. Cosmetology, criminal justice, culinary arts, digital media/web production, educational careers are offered to everyone. Graphic and printing communications are also offered to everyone. Interior design is offered to everyone but you must take intro to interior design first. Machine trades, marketing, mechanical drafting/CAD, mechatronics/pre-engineering, small engine technology, welding are also offered to anyone as an elective.
Worked-Based Learning (credit and non-credit earning)
This course offers two electives which are Co-op and work experience, and Unpaid training and job shadowing. These two electives allow students to gain work experience and get a feel of what the workforce is like.
