Color Wars a long standing tradition in which the grades go head to head to determine the best class. Freshman, sophomores, juniors, and seniors are all sporting different Disney inspired themes and colors, Freshman were sporting their theme of Cars with the color red, Sophomores with gray with the theme of The Lion King, Juniors sporting blue for Moana, and lastly Seniors in all black with the theme of Monsters Inc. The homecoming themes are picked at the beginning of the school year by our MPHS student senate and are shown by each class through homecoming in their own unique way.
Color wars is a fun competitive way to tie the themes together, builds some class spirit, and rivalry between the grades. Last Thursday the two classes sporting the most class shirts were the Freshmen and the Seniors though no real numbers are known we feel the victory was clear and goes to the Seniors, not only were the Seniors spotting their class color but most students had bought their class shirt sporting the Monsters Inc. logo really tying their theme together. Following behind the Seniors were the Freshmen having a clear lead over the other classes wearing their Cars shirts, we thought it was fun seeing the excitement and early competition within the younger underclassman. In third we feel that the Sophomores came out just ahead of the Junior’s in terms of color. Lastly though not without a good fight we have the Juniors, they tried their hardest but just didn’t have as much class participation as the other classes did.
Last Friday was the big game that was the true competition and rivalry but this time not between the classes, at 7pm at the MPHS football stadium we faced Western in our FNL homecoming game. It is a night to remember, a fun time to bring out community members, and a time to come together as a school and cheer for our varsity football team.
