MHSAA explains Round 1 routines are judged by Floor Mobility, Vocals, Jumps, Team Coordination, Variety, Difficulty, and General Impression. Teams must be loud, synchronized, and accurate. Each skill the team performs correctly earns varying Variety and Difficulty points. For a team to receive a 10, 12-15 different skills must be completed and 50% must earn Difficult Points. Round 2 is very special because everyone’s first 10-Count is the same. The 10-count Precision Drill is given to every team, and they must perform this as it is a requirement. The tempo, vocals, and head movements are up to the team’s decision. The remaining choreography is also up to the team’s decision. Besides the 10-count Precision Drill, teams are also judged on skills. Teams are required to perform 5 skills in unison. They are judged off of execution and unison. The final round, Round 3 is judged off the Variety & Difficulty of Skills, Execution, Execution Bonuses, and Choreography Bonuses. This round is when you’ll see most of the tumbling skills and jumps. Teams who have little to no Execution Deductions can receive Execution Bonus Points. Teams who have certain skills and achieve their requirements can also be rewarded Choreography Bonus Points. After hours of tough competition from all athletes, judges began to discuss points & awards.
