How many times have you heard someone say “Oh, I can’t wait to be done with high school” or “I can’t wait to graduate”, well for the seniors of Mt. Pleasant High School, that is a saying they will never say again. All of the long nights studying have come to an end and all of the exciting experiences that come with being in high school have come to a close. For MPHS seniors that all came to an end on May 21, 2025 which marked their final day of high school. To celebrate the accomplishment of completing their high school degrees, the Class of 2025 seniors completed their final walk around the school, the place they have spent more of their time than they might realize. The place full of memories, hardships and important lessons has now become a memory that they will forever remember.
A tradition at Mt. Pleasant High School is for seniors to walk through the halls of Mt. Pleasant Public School buildings to have one last look at the time in their life that has consumed more of their time than anything else. Students don their caps and gowns and parade through the elementary and middle schools to see former teachers and show them how far they have come. For some graduating, it offers a chance to see their younger siblings who are at earlier stages in their their journey through school. What seniors may not realize is that the teachers of all these schools are so excited for these young adults to enter their next chapter of life, and for the chance to celebrate them a final time through the hallways that have guided them through their education.
After completing their multiple school walkthroughs, the seniors celebrated with ice cream and made their last day full of memories that don’t involve sitting at a desk listening to a lecture. To complete their last day, the seniors walked through MPHS one last time, blasting music through their large speakers, and saying goodbye to everyone and everything. For some this can be emotional but for others this proves to be an exciting time because it is opening the door to their life outside of MPHS. Each student had matching senior shirts which each senior class receives their last week, and for the Class of 2025 their shirts say “Seniors Rule” instead of “Rodrick Rules” a nod
at a shirt from “Diaries of a Wimpy Kid.”
Now, having graduated on May 22, 2025, the Class of 2025 has reached the end of a chapter but just because a chapter is ending doesn’t mean they can never go back and relive it. All of the memories that these students have made these past four years will forever be cherished within their hearts. They will forever hold onto those memories that were made but for now, these are their last moments. The new chapter of their lives
is just beginning.
As soon as they walked out of the doors at MPHS, a new door opened to the lives they will live in their time beyond high school.
