Women’s History Month is celebrated from March 1st-March 31st and is meant to honor those who fought for women’s rights around the world.
Mrs. Ramirez feels that Women’s History Month is important because, the things that we take for granted today, don’t get the recognition they deserve and she wishes we did more to celebrate the month because of the hard work done in the past that gave us the rights women have today. ”A lot of the rights that we have that we take for granted now, wouldn’t exist without the ones who came before us.”
The most important women in Mrs. Ramirez ’s life include her mom and her sister.
Mrs. Ramirez says that one of her biggest accomplishments in her life would be graduating college and being able to push through when the covid lockdown began and she had her second child. She canceled her maternity leave so that she could help and finish getting her students through the end of that school year.
Ms. Szymanski thinks that, “Women’s History month is a great way for all people to acknowledge and to be reminded of the achievements of women from all backgrounds, both past and present. The month is also a great opportunity to empower young girls throughout the world with courage and self-esteem” She also thinks that having a month in celebration of women’s history is a great way to honor those who made it easier for us today.
The most important women in Ms. Szymanski’s life are her mother and grandmother. She says that, “My mother raised my brother and I as a single mom, working so many hours to provide for us. She is the epitome of strength and preservation. Because my mom was a single mom and worked 12+ hour days, her mom (my grandma) was really involved in my life. She has one of the kindest hearts and will do anything for those she cares about.”
Ms. Szymanski’s biggest accomplishment in life would be starting over and completely switching her careers. “It was super scary to restart life, in a sense, when I moved to another town and started a whole new career. I’m so glad I did because I’m so much happier now and it just goes to show that you can always change your path if you are unhappy!”
Next Women’s History Month, lets celebrate the women in our lives!
