Homecoming is an amazing experience for high school students because of its traditions and themes. One of these traditions is Mock Rock, where classes come together to create a skit-like performance to do in front of the school at a pep rally-like homecoming assembly. Mock Rock gives students a chance to make lifelong memories and show their school spirit and creativity.
Mock Rock takes place at MPHS each year on certain days set up by the student senate. The students are organized by class in groups all around the school. The students will get together to create and practice a skit with music, dancing, and acting. These skits are meant to mock the other classes while showing how the class that is performing
rocks.
The students that participate in Mock Rock all enjoy how Mock Rock consists of friendship and teamwork we need to put together these skits. All students are allowed to participate in Mock Rock to show off their ideas. Students can recognize each other’s ideas and put them together to create a skit, which helps improve their team-building skills.
Leo Student explains “The community and the dancing is really fun when we finally get a move down and we’re all cheering each other on.” This shows how encouraging the students are of each other at Mock Rock. Mock Rock consists of laughing, dancing, and compromising. Because of this cheerful and comfortable environment, students can talk to each other and make new friends easily, bringing together the classes with school spirit.
MPHS takes pride in our many homecoming traditions, Mock Rock is only one of the many exciting, classic team bonding events. Students get to know each other through dancing, compromising, and mocking the other classes. That is why Mock Rock is so important to MPHS.
