On January 17, 2024 Noah Webster, of the Mt. Pleasant Wrestling team, earned his 100th career victory against a Bay City opponent. Currently, Webster boasts a 20-3 record for his senior season and leads the Mt. Pleasant wrestling team as their Varsity Team Captain alongside Kal Kowallic and Blaine Brown.
Recently Noah has been awarded the Outstanding Wrestler Award at the prestigious Grandville Invite. A look behind this mounting success is a humble young man who enjoys the outdoors and plans to study engineering at Michigan Tech. During practice you will find him hitting his favorite wrestling take down, the low single, while drilling with his long time wrestling partner, his father Jordan Webster. Before matches he is encouraged by the Christian jam “I Thank God” in order to prepare for the next six minutes. “I guess my favorite wrestling memory would have to be winning the whole thing at the Lakeview Tournament last year.” Noah says, a tournament where the Mt. Pleasant Team took home the gold.

Blaine Brown shares this sentiment, both men reflect on their wrestling career and share that the Lakeview Invite was their favorite memory.
Overcoming an injury earlier this year, at the Grandville tournament, Blaine Brown has since returned to the mat for his senior season at the 215 pound weight class. Brown enjoys hitting his signature wrestling move the snap down at practice. When asked who his favorite wrestling partner is he replied “Kal, he’s got a nice beard.”
Before matches he is found listening to Dragula by Rob Zombie and after a weigh ins he heads straight for a 12 inch teriyaki chicken sub. After highschool, Blaine plans to serve his country in the Army. He notes most of success comes from an unlikely team member “Rhianna taught me everything I know.”

Mt. Pleasant’s third team captain Kal Kowallic maintains a tradition of subway before each meet. However after weigh-ins he indulges in “whatever I can get my hands on.” He drills his signature takedown, the cross pick, with his favorite wrestling partner Blaine Brown. Brown being his favorite because “he smells better than other heavy weights.” Daisy scented or not, Blaine, as well as assistant coach Pat Boyd, has helped Kal achieve his favorite wrestling memory of “beating the 7th ranked kid at John Glenn.”
The future is undoubtedly bright for these three leaders. As the season comes to a close with team districts and individual districts, all have a shot at an individual title before their senior season ends.
