DaNiya Page, a second-year staffer on the Pipeline heads down to the GI-TEC center to interview Mrs. Wischmeyer on her plans for the upcoming homecoming event. Roughly eight hundred kids attend the homecoming dance, they are expected to have their student IDs or a driver’s license. When asked on a scale of 1-10 how excited she was for the homecoming dance she said “Always 10! I have kids texting me asking questions about it all summer long, my student senate kids want to make things happen and it’s a really exciting time.” She also explained that she is really glad it’s not off the bat. She shared “My Saint Louis kids have homecoming this week, I’m glad we have a couple of weeks to anticipate it.”
Homecoming ticket prices
Many students talked about the high prices of Homecoming tickets, so DaNiya asked Mrs. Wischmeyer about the prices. She said, “I know twenty-five dollars is a lot, but it’s because Homecoming is very expensive, the photobooth we do for free is around seven hundred dollars..” “Our DJ is five hundred, and all of our decorations and snacks.” If you think about Homecoming the price of the ticket is twenty-five dollars. We get a photo booth and snacks that are unlimited so it is worth it. Make the most out of that and go through the photo booth as many times as you can. While in the room she brings up the snow cone machine. Who doesn’t like snow cones??? A nice add-on to our homecoming snacks. The sure items on the Homecoming menu are Popcorn and ice water, she also added “I want a cheese fountain.” There will be a new decoration as well. She talked about a HOCO sign with lights isn’t that just so cute?
Where would the Homecoming Dance be held?
The dance will be held in the AUX gym, as many people may love the bigger space in the main gym. In one area you cannot turn off the lights, and then you’re just dancing and that’s awkward. Plus the AUX gym should be a lot cooler with the doors being opened and the fan pointing our way.
Fun Fact:
Did you know a while ago the Homecoming used to be held in the Cafeteria? She explained how it was so hot the floors began glistening. Luckily the AUX gym will not get like that.
Overall seeing Homecoming not only as just the dance, it’s an opportunity to get together, and have a great time. You get to dress up and forget about all the worries of schoolwork and just enjoy the moment. Are you ready to dance?
