Seniors win Hoco class competition

Freshmen impressed the judges with their Mock Rock

This year’s homecoming was one to remember, with the movie genres theme seeming to be a big hit with the students.

The judges scored each class on their showcases, floats, bribes, spirit signs, and mock rock. This year’s judges were Mr. Schell, Ms. Sepanski, Mr. Kennard, Mr. Sickles, and Ms. Szymanski. They are all first year judges, but that doesn’t mean they haven’t seen the magic of homecoming before. Mr. Schell has been teaching at Mt. Pleasant schools for 22 years, so you could say that he is an expert in all things homecoming.

Seniors won the Fall 2023 Homecoming Class Competition, as to be expected, earning a score of 529. Seniors took first place in 4 of 5 categories and also won the eating contest.

Juniors came in second place with a score of 426. Sophomores came in third place with a score of 383. Though the Freshmen came in fourth place with 337 points, they bested the Seniors in their first ever Mock Rock.

Seniors often – but don’t always – win the Homecoming class competitions. It helps that they have had four years to refine their skills!
